Last week, we started our history research assignment on conflict and change. You can download the assignment here:
- Download the handout: History Conflict and Change Research Assignment (regular)
(Some students are doing a modified version with fewer expectation and requiring less reading. Please see Ms. Deme for details.)
Approximate Timelines (Time will be provided in class)
- Mon Jan 18 – Fri Jan 22: Research
- Mon Jan 25- Wed Jan 27: Working on the final product
- Fri Jan 29: Project due. (Presentations if your final product is a presentation. Otherwise, hand in your written work on Friday.)
Unfortunately, I will not be at school on Monday Jan 18 and Tuesday Jan 19.
- Students in R7C and R7F will be spending time in class researching their topic and making jot notes. (Yes, you still have drama on Tuesday.)
- Students should be working on the research project at home (20-30 minutes per night.)
- Students who want to “go beyond” are encouraged to research other sections that are relevant from their topic using only the two textbooks provided in class. You may not use other sources of information in your research. (In other words, you may not go and google information and simply copy-and-paste stuff.) The emphasis of this assignment is on note-taking skills and synthesis of ideas, not finding sources of information.
- Students can work alone, in pairs or groups of 3 (but not groups of 4.) Please ask Ms Deme regarding some student groupings.
- Students who are working in groups can divide the research up so they don’t all have to take notes on the same thing.
I will be collecting and marking your notes during history class on Wed Jan 20. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.
